2. A Mighty Fortress…the Stories Behind the 2nd San Francisco Mint

A new book, and the only book ever written, on the Second San Francisco Mint affectionately called the Granite Lady. This 130 year-old magnificent building sits in the middle of the city of San Francisco languishing with neglect for the last 9 years. It was closed at the end of 1994 because; it is said, the cost of retrofitting the building, and the expense of running the museum that was within, was prohibitive. It is currently being remodeled and is soon to be reopened as the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society. The building’s importance to the history of the City of San Francisco is notable. The building and its employees helped to save the city after the devastating earthquake and fire of 1906. The only structure to survive intact for several blocks around, the Granite Lady was the center of financial recovery to a city struggling to rise from the ashes. The discovery of long lost mint ledgers, which brought new information to light, gave us invaluable assistance in the creation of this book. This compilation was the result of three years of research. The book includes stories, which add to the fascination of the mint’s history, that have never before been published. Examples include 1) possible tunneling under the mint in 1901; 2) new information concerning the rare 1894 S Dime; 3) the missing cornerstone; and many more stories unknown to the public until now. Several professional numismatists have purchased this work and now we are releasing it to a wider audience. We believe that you will find this book enlightening, interesting and one that you will want to keep for reference.Price for this 144 page, perfect bound book is only $14.95 plus $3 postage and handling. California residents please add 8% sales tax.

3. Sentiments @ Aspirations of a 19th Century Tradesman. The cost for this 316 page, softbound book is just $29.95 plus $4 postage and handling.
